Hej people,

many of you wonder why they haven't seen me the last couple of months Some of you think I'm already dead, some think I am building a nuclear weapon. Neither is true. The reason is that I am working on the big final of my blog. It will contain the highlights of my stay in Sweden. However, this doesn't mean that I am just summarizing the events which happened during my 10 month stay but rather that I will tell the secret stories which nobody knows yet and I can promise you, it is getting very exciting!

In a few days it will be finished. Har har har...
Update,

I didn't want to conceal that my brother and father visited me before I went to Germany. I think I am messing up the chronological order of my "diary" right now, but I expect you to be as intelligent to figure out what happened when...During their stay something funny happened. The first night in Växjö, my father decided to stay in my place, so my brother and me had to take the car in order to drive to the youth hostel. Although I hadn't been there before, I thought I knew where it was located, about 10 km away from Växjö in a calm and offside recreation area next to a lake. When we came there, the only house we could see, was the house you can see on the picture below. It looked quite scary like the house in psycho (but in this case without any grandmother ;-), nevertheless we were trying to find the flower pot, under which the key to our room should be hidden (as the youth host had told us on the phone). Unfortunately we could neither find the flower pot, nor the key. After about 30 minutes of searching we realized it couldn't be our youth hostel and finally found it about 2 km away. As the (psycho) house looked so scary, we decided to take some pictures the next night...

Hej ho,

first, a picture of someone which shall remind us that there are things in life which are MUCH more important than any internship, job etc.:

However, as I promised, I will also tell you the results of my job interviews. And the decision is taken. Yesterday I got a call from Kraftfoods on my answering machine to call back in order to get to know my result. About 1 hour ago I also had a call from Procter & Gamble on my answering machine, asking me to call back, too. So I did. The man (with whom I had my last interview) told me that he was in a hurry, so he told me he would call me tomorrow morning. However, as I was really excited I wanted to know the result. "The internship at P&G won't happen!" ....

After having travelled more than 6.000 km to be in the final round for the internship, this is not the nicest answer to hear, that's what I can tell you. I am really interested to get to know the reasons...

One minute after this conversation I decided to call Kraftfoods (the second biggest food company in the world). Bam! I got the internship! The funny thing, I am working on the current focus project of Kraftfood which is called Tassimo, a joint venture between Kraftfoods and Braun (Braun belongs to P&G).

So, what is the outcome of my two weeks of travelling through Germany, doing a marketing seminar at P&G and several job interviews?
  • Never trust your feelings about an interview
  • Never try to bend yourself in an interview to fit into the culture of the company, because your interview partners are experienced and professionals
  • Never criticise a company during an informal lunch meeting, because it could be that this person is coincidently doing a job interview with you some days later ;-)
  • Never rely on the German ICE-train, as it is (almost) always delayed
In conclusion, if P&G or not, if you get a phonecall from Unilever the day after you have told them that the decision has been taken and they try to persuade you to rescint the consent and join their company, you know that you are on the right track! However, I stick to my decision!

Beginning on the 26th of june I will be in Bremen, in the North of Germany, doing my internship at Kraftfoods and enjoying life.

See you soon,
Fabian

Hej folks,

I am sorry but I cannot tell you the result of my final interviews today, as P&G need some more time. However, they promised to tell me tomorrow or the day after at the latest.
As soon as I know I will publish the result here. Also I will get the result from Kraftfoods and probably from Tchibo tomorrow.

By the way, tomorrow I am returning to Sweden, just in case someone realized that I was absent for some time ;-)

See you,
Fabian

Ladies and Gentlemen,

it's getting exciting! Tomorrow the final round of my application process for an internship at Procter & Gamble, the inventors of the brand concept, soap opera and the marketing as we know it today, takes place. This means that I have to persuade a brand manager and a marketing director in two interviews that I have the leadership abilities and the passion to become an intern at P&G.

Tomorrow evening, exclusively on this page, you will get to know the result.

My friends,

I have exactely 5 minutes to write this entry and keep you up to date. After having spent 3 days of my life in the Procter and Gamble office near Frankfurt I am still fighting for getting an internship there. After my application in January, doing an online test about my personality, travelling to Stockholm to do an intelligence test, flying to Frankfurt to do some kind of assessment center and a job interview, I still have two more interviews to come if I am lucky. Right now I have already travelled more than 4000km just to be in the 3rd of the 5th round. Unbelievable...I hope it will be worth it.

Besides I have to travel around through Germany to do some other job interviews (in case P&G doesn't need a highly motivated intern like me) and spend my days in the train while the weather is so nice and in Sweden the party week has already started ("Don't travel between 8th and 14th of May because it is the week with the biggest parties ever" Yehaaa.).

Whatever, we'll see what happens. I hope you are all doing fine and enjoy the arriving summer.

See you soon,
Fabian
